All the standard professional provenance is in my LinkedIn profile. The "too long, didn't read" version is that I was a writer and editor for a major metropolitan daily for many years. Then I discovered I could tell stories -- and help others tell stories -- in the corporate world. I haven't looked back.
The Journalist
Covering technology for The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was a dream job in many ways. With nearly total creative freedom, I launched and managed a weekly technology page and column for many years. The strategy for technology coverage changed over the years, but the mission remained the same: making technology understandable and relevant. If you're curious, you can check out:
- My final goodbye column

The Marketer
My career in marketing began in an industrial products group at Rockwell Automation. But after a year, I had the opportunity for a short-term assignment in our EMEA division (Europe, Middle East, Africa) supporting social media, public relations and customer communications. I worked out of our UK office for more than three months. Afterward, I took on a new role managing our customer publications, including:
- The Journal from Rockwell Automation and Our PartnerNetwork
- The Rockwell Automation Blog
- The Rockwell Automation Case Study Program
My programs have been honored with several awards, including:
- The Journal: Best Custom-Published Magazines, Journals & Tabloids
- The Journey to The Connected Enterprise: Business Marketing Association Excellence Award, Video Under $20,000
- The Journal: Business Marketing Association Bell Award, B2B Collateral, Literature (PDF)
The dude
Life isn't all work, although, admittedly, some days it feels that way. I love participating in organized cycling, particularly rides for charity. I am also a huge fan of dogs, craft beer and Dungeons & Dragons.
